View of Guildhall and Portsmouth & Southsea Station from Canal Walk, Jacobs Ladder

Taken some time between 1963 and 1975. Most likely nearer 1963.

Photo by Martin Hulbert, reproduced with kind permission.

Many thanks to Facebook members The Pompey Bible, Albie Somerset Malc Ball, Ian Marshall and Des Judd for helping to narrow down the location of where this photo was taken. Identifying that it was taken at Canal Walk, from the top of the steps of Jacobs Ladder footbridge. Overlooking Portsmouth & Southsea Station, where The Guildhall can also be seen in the far left distance.

Alt text

A bright sunlit sky stretches above a railway bridge with various tracks headed toward a station. Buildings can be seen in the background amongst them stands a large building with a tall clock tower, looming somewhat above the rest of the skyline. A light leakage has occurred causing the top half of the image to appear a washed out cyan blue whilst darker brown tones flood the lower half.
